Church Planting and Resourcing, Cuba

Starting in the 1950s, when BIC missionaries planted the first church, Hermanos en Cristo (BIC) Church of Cuba has grown to over 90 churches across the island, and there are still more churches being planted today. Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth), a Cuban island southwest of Havana, is one example of a significant location where a church has been planted and national missionaries are sent.

Hermanos en Cristo church members who feel called to share the gospel and are willing to be sent across the island attend a year-long Missionary School, usually held at the National Centre where many different subjects are taught to prepare the students. The team then discerns and looks for a location for a new church plant. There are many aspects to starting a church in Cuba; the funds received help offset the initial costs and support the missionaries who are sent to the new communities.
